I find covering your greens ok until late October-ish. I left it on later than that once and it had all sorts of crawlies on it. I didn't net this year as I didn't get "round tuit" but, apart from pigeons eating the tops and scooping caterpillars off some of the leaves, there are no insects on the buttons. I did spray twice a while ago (unlike me but my OH insisted). I prefer non-eaten buttons that are easy to clean and prepare and the birds will have had a feast off the insects so we're all happy!  biggrin
