Mrs Nig bought me a new hoe yesterday, hurrah!, so today I gave it it's first look at the garden and had a bit of a rootle around the spring veg with it.
Looks so much better...... smile

I removed a small tree that had self seeded last year.
Dug up the first Jerusalem Artichokes of the new season.
Weeded round the carrots.
Harvested large batch of spinnach.
And best of all I had a brilliant time smile smile smile

weeded the big raised beds - emptied and swept the poly tunnel - help put up the marquee for next weeks BBQ (hope there isn't a storm like today!) - now my joints are paying the price! Never mind!

Yesterday I swept up a lot more leaves off a quiet, little used side road and barrowed another 12 bags up to the allotment.

Today I shall do nothing as the rain is coming down in sheets and the wind is blowing a hooligan. Else I would be sweeping up some more leaves. I want as many of those leaves as possible before the street sweeper turns down towards the town castle.   smile

Mind as the castle is closed for the winter there's no real need for the town leaf sweeper to rush down there - no one sees it at the moment officially.  But next week might be different of course.

I went to let out the hens and nearly slipped over in the mud. It has been so wet that that is all I did in the garden today.

Sat in my shed with a brew for an hour, waiting for the wind and rain to drop.

Then I finished off one of my paths, did a load of weeding, made a few slug traps, mulched up one of my raised beds, traded some strawberry runners for some spring cabbage... erm... chatted with a few of the OBs... composted old plants...

Oh and contemplated what's going where in 2010.

All that and I STILL managed to sit on my backside so much that a couple of fellas commented on it!

Yesterday I potted up some heather plants in the front garden, along with some winter pansie's and some tiny bushes that have pretty pink ball's on them hee hee :-) All of this in the rain :-) Love it though!

Planted out 40 wallflowers in the back and front gardens, had to water them in as the front bed is still really dry, in spite of the driving rain earlier in the day.

That's about it really.

well weather is far better today, fixed the front of the compost heap after the weekends wind ripped it off, pulled a few used and poor looking brocoli and cabbage plants up. then i built a hay store in the horses stable to stop him chucking it allover
