I've not had my chooks long, they love mealworms, soaked bread, worms, creepy crawlies of any description, broken biscuits etc. I know that  you should not give meat in any form, although saying that I know a some people give cat food sometimes, I have not done this tho.

mine love dried cranberries and rasins, grapes, corn-on-the-cob, mealworms, tinned sweetcorn(rinsed)....they go mad for the 'porriage' i make from the layers pellets. i mix it with warm water, a bit of natural bio youghurt, manuka honey and a few cranberries/rasins. too much of anything is bad for them. you shouldnt really give them treats in the morning cos you want them to eat their layers pellets, and fat chickens dont lay eggs. :D. i was working on the idea they wouldnt eat it if it was bad for them.....but my dog would eat a chocolate shop given half the chance, so that theory got thrown out the window :blink:so then i worked on the fact that they are woodland creatures, so worms , bugs, berries etc....but i am new at this also...just letting you know what i do with mine

Hen are occasional meat eaters , the odd frog or mouse so a little meat in the diet is not a bad thing. Mine get fish scraps , cooked or raw but their favourite which they go completely nuts for is a few scraps of raw liver.
I had just been thinking about getting some fish based cat food for them as a couple are moulting , any recommended brands ?

layers all morning, dont forget treats in the late afternoon.
ours will eat cooked pasta, cooked vegetables, love yougurt, and when off colour have been given complan (on the instructions of the vet).
corn on the cob is attacked with gusto.
mealworms, live are adored, dried will do..lol
and what they will not do for grapes and strawberries......

Beware processed foods as sugar and salt not good for them either.  In the garden or on the allotment watch out for Ragwort, very bad!
